How We Help

Megaplex is dedicated to raising money for animal-based charities that support Florida. We select a different Florida-based charity each year based off our mission and what we believe will provide the greatest impact, either statewide or locally. Since our first event in 2001, Megaplex has raised over $420,000 for the animal communities of Florida.

2025 Charity Partner

Last year we were pleased to work with the Street Dog Coalition of Sarasota County. Together with our attendees, we raised over $81,000 to help the Street Dog Coalition continue their amazing work. While we looked at many charities for this year, we really wanted to bring our focus closer to home and help a major member of our community here in the city of Orlando. As such, we have decided to partner with the Pet Alliance!
The Pet Alliance has been helping the Greater Orlando Area since 1937, working with the community to promote outreach and adoptions as well as provide medical services to the Central Florida area.

How Can I Help?

All weekend at Megaplex we'll be actively supporting the chosen charity by raising money in different ways:

  • The Charity Auction.

    It's our biggest fundraiser every year, and it's your chance to take home any of the unique and cool items donated to our auction. Credit cards are accepted. Information on donating items for the auction is below.
  • The Charity Poker Tournament.

    The poker tournament is an opportunity to have fun for a great cause!
  • Fill Those Donation Jars.

    At our info desk (near Registration), and at certain events, we'll have donation boxes out. Every little bit of spare change adds up! You can also put money into the donation boxes carried around by our fursuit Box Brigade:
  • Fursuiters: Join the Box Brigade.

    Fursuiters can help by becoming a part of our fuzzy fundraising force, otherwise known as the "box brigade." This involves approaching attendees throughout the convention, holding out an official Megaplex charity donation box, and looking so ridiculously cute that your targets will be unable to resist emptying their pockets into the donation jar! To participate, sign up at the information desk by Registration.

The Charity Auction

We're looking for artwork, memorabilia, collectibles, and other merchandise that can be auctioned off to raise money for the chosen charity which 100% of all sales will go to. Help us make a difference by donating what you can!

These are our submission guidelines:

  1. For early donations, we recommend that you contact our Charity team at mp-charity@megaplexcon.org with photos and a brief description of your donations so we can preview it online and at the convention before the auction. (This will also save you some time, as we'll be taking down a description if we don't already have one when you drop the item off.)
  2. Donations should be in salable condition - clean, in good shape, with all parts included.
  3. Donations that are not safe-for-work can be submitted - however items must be unopened and in original packaging (where applicable). Artwork that falls into this category will be auctioned with an appropriate description and will not be displayed publicly both before or during the auction.

For donations submitted during the convention, you can bring your donation and drop it off at the Convention Operations location. Please try to get your donation to us on Friday, so we have time to plan and prepare for the auction. If you cannot attend Megaplex this year, you can email mp-charity@megaplexcon.org to arrange mailing your item in. Donations should be received at least one week before the convention.
